Retaining walls play a critical role in site development and soil re enforcement. There are two main kinds of retaining walls: Ornamental and Structural. An ornamental wall is considered to be any wall under 4′ in exposed height. These walls are not critically load bearing and require no engineering or permits to install in most cases. A structural wall is any wall over 4′ in exposed height. These walls are likely load bearing and require soil re enforcement, engineering and a permit from the city. Permits are obtained by getting an engineered stamp of approval for the plans. Our retaining wall projects range from small lip retaining walls up to large structural walls. We prefer to install a solid core pinned block system as they provide the most weight at the face of the wall and the most structural integrity.
